A Trip Down La Dordogne :: France :: Canoes

Welcome to My Canoeing Blog.

This Blog is about the 10 days or so I spent in the Dordogne Region of over Summer with my friend Marc. There is a small run up to the trip with my thoughts - but as a general rule the majority of the site is about the time spent on the river and my thoughts (and sometimes Marc's) and observations on the trip.

I think most of what happened in this blog is true. It may be fair to say that some of it isn't perfect as the journal I wrote while away was more of an aide memoir than a fully comprehensive piece of literature. Saying that - the photos are probably the best indication as to how beautiful the area is and the places we ended up!

You know as a kid, when you’re in school just starting the winter term. You’ve had a million weeks off which flashed by in a couple of sun burnt, sweet packed minutes and then the teacher asks you to write about what you did on your summer holidays. You’re sitting there in your itchy school pants and you can’t think of anything to write. Eight weeks of fun, parched evenings and TV and your mind goes blank. It’s not cricket. The summer dying away and you’re meant to write about it.

Well for all those kids out there, and those essays that I was meant to write and my mind went blank, and the journal I was meant to do when I went to Australia but never really managed to write anything but a few poxy lines - I actually decided to record what I did on my holiday on La Dordogne in France and publish it on the net so I can read it whenever I am in a boring meeting or the weather is crap...
